the easiest thing to do is to just browse people's clips. you can grab the clip ( it's in the bottom right hand corner of the video player) and then at the top of the page there's a "create" button. clikc on that. there's actually a video there that you can watch that will help. i alos have a remixed video you can watch that i think i pretty clear on how to make a video.

first remix, grab and create, then downlaod off the net for free (using video downloader or equivilant ), THEN buy a video camera.

by the way, i just use a normal digital camera that can take video...

honestly? i think any camera that takes video will suffice. doesn't have to be anything fancy. but that's just my opinion . get something compact cuz it's easier to trudge along with you when you're on the fly!

i kinda think sony is an awesome start. cybershot seems to have a lot of functionality and the price is not outragous. i've played with various cybershot models for like years.

weibel or karen (here on jumpcut) would probably have much better suggestions though.

if you're thinking video, watch out for cameras that record to AVI format. typically they make motion jpegs that are huge and wrap them in the AVI container . . . look for something that records directly to MPEG or MP4 . . the files will be much smaller for the same quality . . . it's hard to find this in a small point&shoot camera since it requires an additional chip to transcode, so look around . . i'll see if i can find one that would work
